Award-winning actress, history-making supermodel and philanthropist who is a staunch supporter, conscientious activist as well as a writer and mother of two. Patricia Velasquez applies an eternal inventive spirit to all she does. Whether it's appearing in blockbuster movies like The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation and participating in the UNESCO Board. She draws on her instincts and designs her own path taking huge leaps. "I consider my professional life as a long , sweeping staircase," she says. "I have taken every step. It was quite amazing to accomplish this, as there has been perseverance. I never stopped moving, simply sat down. The analogy is directly related to the experience of forming. In the following years, she moved to Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and was raised in France and Mexico. Parents who were employed as teachers in South America, moved her family into a cramped home with no water and no elevators. Patricia carried fifteen steps up using heavy buckets to supply water to the unit. Between studying engineering and intense dance training she tried to assist the family however she could. She was scouted to be a model in Milan and her climb to the top of the fashion world was based on a promise made to her loved ones. She recalled, "When they asked me if I wanted to go to Italy to model, I responded"If you're able to send 30 bucks a month home to Venezuela the cost will be worth it since that will pay for the entire building's water costs'." Patricia's triumph was an important moment in fashion as she attracted the attention of fashion industry professionals to South America for the first time. She received a major break upon becoming "the first model Karl Lagerfeld ever photographed" and was then able to walk in shows, be a part of editorial spreads and front ads for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Chloe, Cover Girl, and Victoria's Secret, to name several. She also appeared in Oprah's "Supermodel of the World Contest" by Ford Models. The covers of her book also appeared of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire and a host of other magazines.
